SAG's Hollywood Film Society

I haven't been writing about the Film Society because I didn't want to get in the habit of writing "movie reviews"...enough of that going around. So instead, I'll do a quick recap.

The films/movies that I've seen so far:

Shrek 2: I liked it...the humor was grown up and I won't fight Mindy when she wants to buy the DVD! :)

Terminal: I'm usually not a big Tom Hanks fan (not his acting, but rather the large budgeted, ego films that he does), but I did like this one. It was a bit slow at times, but I thought with the limitation of being in the terminal that they did an excellent job.

We Don't Live Here Anymore: EXCELLENT FILM...EXCELLENT CAST...EXCELLENT SCRIPT...EXCELLENT DIRECTION...guess what? I liked this one a lot!! Go see it, it is an exhibition of great ensemble acting?

Troy: Not so much. long...boring...over produced

The Notebook: I thought this was gonna be a chick flick and it was, but it still managed to hold my attention. I really liked the two movies that made the movie and watching the... I'm not telling you anymore...watch the doggone movie.

The Village: If you are going for an extreme horror movie...dont' go. I wasn't looking for that and enjoyed the piece. There are the usual M. Night Shyamalan twists so I won't talk about the story. I will say that Ivy (played by Bryce Dallas Howard) didn't seem very blind. I know she is supposed to be greatly independant, but the blind thing didn't convince me or the people around me...I swear she was making eye contact and moving out of the way of things that should have tripped her. This was my only "major" distraction.
