SAG Awards Nominating Duty
You'll notice that some of the movies aren't even out in the theatres yet. :-) The are starting to come at a 1 or 2 per day pace, so we need to pick up our viewing rate.
We're doing pretty well...the tall stack are one's we've already watched and the little stack is work we got to do.

Carl Lewis - 5K Run/Walk Event
View this clip on Vimeo
Carl Lewis had his 5th Annual Track & Field Camp and Festival at the Home Depot Center in Los Angeles (Carson to be exact). This clip is the start of the 5K run/walk.
You'll see Carl wearing all white and running to the side after the start...he's also clapping his hands.
The guy with the gun in the mayor of the city of Carson.
I have to say that meeting Carl Lewis was such a thrill. His accomplishment are astounding enough: one of only 3 people in the 3000 year history of the Olympics to amass 9 gold medals...no one has 10! His "giving back" accomplishments are just as legendary and this event is just an example. It's always great to meet people who are beyond successful in what they do. I've now met two legends of sport and both serve as great inspiration. (I also met Walter Payton about a year before he died)
I was able to meet Mr. Lewis because I do some video work for a company he hired to document the event. (THIS clip was from my pocket camera...not the 'real' camera!)

Stash: St. Julian Cherry Wine
Testimonial #1
Our friend Lisa gave us that "blank look" when we gave her a bottle to try...you know the "blank look"? Well, we heard from her post-taste and it seemed to have caused her to drink the whole bottle by herself.
Testimonial #2
Our neighbor girl gave a look of sheer HORROR when we mentioned it to her. One day when she came be our apartment I poured a small glass and it was met with enthusiastic approval. She shared the bottle over dinner with us!
I think one of the bottles will be used to try to make a Cherry Wine "Sangria". I can't wait to soak the fruit and enjoy what I expect to be a complex set of yum-yum taste!
If you are curious, get the to www.stjulian.com and order some up!

Latest Acting Postcard Mailing
I'm in the middle of a postcard mailing to the Casting Directors and here's what I'm
sending.
This is the actual postcard that I designed and had printed by a printshop.
This is for the back (label side) of the postcard. I'll slap an address label and stamp on the blank side and put 'em in the mail.

New Orleans: Stop Blaming and Start HELPING
There will be many, MANY investigations by Congress and whomever to determine what went wrong and how to fix it in the future.
In my estimation, I do believe that we may have been ill prepared for a disaster of this magnitude...an entire city was under water for crying out loud. It seems as though the the levee break was the overwhelming suprise that we were unable to adequately respond to. If I remember the coverage properly (from Fox, CNN, MSNBC, etc.) the hurricane did far less damage than we thought and the focus was on Alabama and Mississippi who were hit harder...then the levee broke...
My thoughts while watching the coverage and seeing many poor, minority people trapped was that we needed a better plan to evacuate. People who do not have cars COULD not evacuate and a plan needs to be in place to deal with that situation.
I will withhold judgement on the situation until the investigations are complete. Right now, I worry about the victims, the families and anyone effected by the tragedy. I hope more people can put the "us vs. them" political BS aside and just friggin HELP OUR FELLOW AMERICANS.
I was just in New Orleans about 7 months ago and I recall the wonder of the place. The woman who taught the Cajun cooking class that I took, the man who shucked oysters for us at a restaurant and hung out with us, the small bar owner that gave us a test of his signature concoction, I remember them and fear for them all. I also fear that those who survive are going to live in a place that doesn't resember the New Orleans that I remember. The vast percentage of development that will need to be torn down and rebuilt makes me worry about the architecture and personality of the city. I hope that doesn't die with the many citizens who made that city unique and amazing. These are things that I fear. I don'[t have time for the paranoia that the President or the Director of FEMA or the Governor or the Mayor or Congress or the Corps of Army Engineers, or the people who could have left but didn't are to blame. In fact, all of them may share certain portion of the blame, but NOW is not the time and POLITICAL BIAS is not the criterea for such conclusions. That will all come in time.
I'm truly amazed that we care more about blame than helping one another.

SAG Nominating Committee
Last week, I received an envelope from the Screen Actor Guild (SAG) that said "IMPORTANT". Yikes...I thought I forgot to pay my dues or something.
When I opened it up, it was a most pleasant surprise. My name was drawn to be on the nominating committee for the SAG Awards! This is very exciting because I will get to see many, MANY movies for free this year. I'm already a member of SAG's Film Society so I can see a ton of film through that program.
I will definitely keep you posted about my experience fulfilling this privileged duty. Most of the 'action' won't happen until this fall so...stay tuned.

Motivation in "Action" at Universal Studios
We bought those 'buy one day get a year free' passes for Universal Studios. We should definitely go more often. It inspires and motivates me everytime I go there. I just want to be successful in this business and have acting and movies be my one and only job.
The lot tour is still the number one attraction to me. Right now, you can see the crash site that was used in the upcoming movie "War of The Worlds". I'll post pics of that later.
I also like snapping pics and here is Mindy playing in the gift shop!

My 1st VLOG (Video Log)
It's called simply "My Stuff" and nothing too revolutionary, but a quick and easy subject that allowed me to put something up soon after the idea hit me!
What do YOU think of VLOGging? ...regardless of what you think of "My Stuff". :)

Back From Vacation
We went to New Orleans 1st. We got there at 5:00am on Friday and stayed Fri., Sat. and Sun. nights. Then we boarded the Carnival Sensation and did a cruise.
Our two ports were both in Mexico. The 1st was Calica/Playa Del Carmen which was really nice. It's about an hour from Cancun and way less touristy. I mean it's still touristy, but there aren't as many large resorts and Animal House style bars.
The second port was Cozumel and this was uber-touristy with Senor Frogs placed almost at the end of the pier. We still had fun.
I have a few pics up from our trip on flickr - http://www.flickr.com/photos/dalydose/sets/86654/
